Every year Volga implements a number of ecological projects to improve the environmental protection at its facilities and in the Balakhna district on the whole.
In 2014, the major projects included upgrading an aeration tank section at the biological waste water treatment facilities by introducing a tubular fine-bubble aeration system (instead of disk aerators), a retrofit of the ash handling system at the wood-fired boiler plant by installing a new water-filled ash conveyor, and partial replacement of trunk sewers between the mechanical and biological waste water treatment facilities with a total length of 1.1 km.
In 2015 Volga will continue to implement various measures aimed at better ecological and industrial safety.
In 2017 the work of pressure header and slurry pipeline replacement and also sedimentation tanks №1 and №4 repair were conducted in biological treatment facilities.
The work of replacement of the SVD-2700 pump with a capacity of 2700 cubic meters per hour, two SM-200 pumps with a capacity of 400 cubic meters per hour and also the major repairs of the tank №1 were conducted in mechanical treatment facilities.
Moreover, the Declaration of safety of the hydro-technical installations of water abstraction was developed and implemented. The contract for the development of the Declaration of sludge tanks safety was concluded. The work on this issue will be continued in 2018.
